Corn fields and dairy farms are getting bigger. Houses are getting finer. The economy here must be good.
10-2-2019. This was a long day. It was suppose to be flatter than the day before but there were still lots of rivers and streams to cross that flow into the ocean.
Going down in the woods again.
Bright mosses in the woods.
Freeways to cross over and under plus woods to traverse down to the ocean and nearly crawl back out of..
Luarca is a beautiful port town that would have been fun to explore but we wanted to get to Otur to make our next day shorter.
It was hundreds of steps down into town and forever up getting out of town again. No wonder why the Spanish people are so fit and trim.
Brussel sprouts almost done for the season.
We got to the Albergue around 4:00 pm and it was full. All our friends were already in and mostly showered. The volunteer was most apologetic that she couldn’t accommodate us but told us where there was a nice hotel only about a 1/4 mile away. When we got there the proprietor said they were full.......oh no !!!!!
Then we asked Where was the next lodging which she said was about 5km away. I knew I couldn’t walk another 5 km so asked if she could call us a cab to take us to the next town with a room. First she said ok then she looked at her books again and “found a room”.
All I can say is it was clean and a much appreciated shower and bed. Of course the restaurant didn’t open till 9:00 but they did have little sandwiches in the bar. I think we were in bed by 7:00.
